Our Founder’s Story

Alejandro Scott’s journey is rooted in service, discipline, and the power of finding one’s voice.

Born into a proud United States Marine Corps family, Alejandro spent his early years traveling the world, learning firsthand what it meant to adapt, persevere, and lead with integrity. When his father retired from the Marine Corps, the Scott family put down roots in Tampa, Florida, where Alejandro would grow up shaped by both the structure of military life and the opportunity of a new community.

As a student at Wesley Chapel High School, Alejandro worked hard to find his place and his purpose. It was through debate and leadership programs that everything changed. Debate became more than an activity it became a proving ground. He discovered confidence in his voice, clarity in his thinking, and the ability to stand his ground with respect and conviction. Leadership stopped being an abstract idea and became a lived experience. 

 

That journey led Alejandro to achieve a lifelong dream: acceptance to New York University (NYU).

At NYU, Alejandro flourished. He served as President of the University Debate Team, earned national recognition as a National Debate Scholar, and was awarded the Michael K. Davis Debater of the Year (2022), one of the highest honors in collegiate debate. As a first-generation college graduate, his success reflected not only talent, but grit, discipline, and years of intentional growth.

 

Following graduation, Alejandro built a professional career in investment banking, closing million-dollar transactions, before transitioning into financial consulting at CTR Factor, Inc. Along the way, he remained deeply connected to the debate community competing, coaching, and judging at national tournaments; volunteering with the New York City Urban Debate League; and mentoring students through the International Public Policy Forum.

Through every stage of his journey, one belief remained constant:

• Debate changes lives.

• It builds confidence.

• It sharpens thinking.

• It creates leaders.

Driven by the desire to give students the same tools, mentorship, and opportunities that shaped his own path, Alejandro founded CTR Factor Debate Academy. The Academy exists to help students find their voice, develop disciplined leadership, and step confidently into classrooms, competitions, college, and beyond.

This is more than debate training.
It’s about empowering voices and elevating futures.
